Our Mission: The Berthoud Elementary School community will foster academic excellence in an environment that ensures that each student is supported in reaching their full potential.

Mascot: Eagle

SOAR: We teach, model, practice and reinforce the following behaviors: Safe, On task and responsible, Achieve your best and Respect.

Berthoud Elementary is the largest elementary school in the Thompson School District. Our highly dedicated staff collaborates regularly to empower a climate of high expectations. We strive to provide a safe, caring, challenging and fun learning environment. We offer flexible skills grouping to meet the needs of all students, and we are committed to a student centered approach to meeting diverse needs. Our In Focus curriculum addresses the social and emotional needs of our students, and we provide behavioral and academic interventions that are personalized. As a designated Ubiquitous Technology Access (UTA) school by the Thompson School District, we are able to provide a Chromebook or iPad for each of our students.

Clubs & Activities: We offer a wide variety of activities, including: Battle of the Books, Eagle Choir, B Strong B Fit, Homework Club, Student Council, First Friends, Math Olympiad, Spelling Bee and numerous interest based after school clubs.

Accomplishments: A large number of our teachers have been recognized for their outstanding service through the Thompson School District Award of Excellence, the Teacher of the Year Award, the Crystal Apple Award and the Loveland Rotary Teacher of the Month Award. We have been the proud recipients of the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and the John Irwin School of Excellence Award in 2002, 2004, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Parent and Community Partnerships: As a result of the generous support of our families, our learning environment is enriched through movie nights, memory books, the annual Holiday Shop, classroom volunteers, crosswalk volunteers, the Jogathon, Field Day, the Fall Carnival and so much more. We appreciate our families! Parents provide important leadership in our school community, as well, through their involvement with our School Accountability Committee, our Parent Teacher Organization and the District Accountability Committee. The Berthoud community is also highly invested in the education of our children. The Berthoud Schools Fund has provided a significant amount of technology and other resources to allow for innovative learning experiences. Trained Kids Hope mentors provide individualized encouragement to students in need of support, and our partnership with the YMCA provides quality before and after school child care for our families.
